Wavy News of the Week: 2/11-2/17

What’s popping, guys. NikePhelps here and like every Friday, it’s time for Wavy News of the Week. Let’s dive in.

This week was a monumental victory for all the people who grew up gaming on the original PlayStation. With 3D platformers booming at the time, there was one who stood above the rest. That chosen one was a marsupial named, Crash Bandicoot.

Yes, my friends, the time has come! The remastered Crash Bandicoot is scheduled for release on June 30th!

And it’s going to be… $40.

I knew it was real but actually getting confirmation with a concrete release date is a dream come true. Now the waiting officially begins.

Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy is a complete remaster of the first three games in the Crash Bandicoot franchise;

Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

Crash Bandicoot is one of my favorite gaming franchises of all time (I might do a list of those in the future) and after years of rumors, it’s finally happening.

Now, of course, I am a fan of the first Crash but it is definitely the weakest out of the bunch but that’s understandable. All games SHOULD get back better with each installment. I can objectively say that Crash 3 is the best one because it took its level design to the next level and provided, even more, platforming mechanics. Crash 2 is my personal favorite. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve beaten that game. I know t like the back of my hand.

I really have to commend Vicarious Visions on the job they have done so far. You might be familiar Vicarious Visions if you played Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, the Guitar Heroes on Wii, and, most recently, games in the Skylanders series. The most important thing is that have worked on various Crash games in the past which should bode well for the quality of the games. Just look at the gameplay! It’s beautiful.

They have only shown off a couple of levels from Crash Bandicoot so far and I am disappointed that a new trailer didn’t accompany the release date announcement but alas. I can’t wait to see what the new games look like. My body is too ready for this! Now we need that Spyro remaster!

Are you excited for the upcoming remaster? What are your memories from the Crash Bandicoot series? Let me know in the comments.
