What’s popping guys, it’s NikePhelps and I’m bringing you another edition of Wavy News of the Week. Let’s see what the industry has brought gamers this week.
This week brought Horizon: Zero Dawn back into the limelight with a number of media outlets showing off extensive gameplay footage of the highly anticipated game. Earlier this week, I gave my impressions on the footage I saw so you can check that out for more information.
Wavy News of the Week this week is reserved for Injustice 2. While the closed beta for the game is still going on, NetherRealm has continued to release more information about the game.
Robin received his own gameplay trailer, which you can see below.
Now, this Robin seems to be Damien Wayne, Batman’s biological son with Talia Al Ghul. His fighting style is like a Kenshi and Batman mash-up with his utilization of his sword and various gadgets. I’m a big fan of the Robin character so I’m excited to see him in the game. I like Damien’s edginess (even though he can be an asshole sometimes) so I’m interested to see how he’s used in the narrative.
NetherRealm Studios confirmed three characters on their website this week which you can see below with their full descriptions.
I’ve mentioned before that I’m excited for Brainiac’s inclusion in the game. Bane is sure to be a powerful character but Poison Ivy is the one I’m most interested in seeing. Ed Boon said that Injustice 2 will be featuring more obscure characters and this inclusion lends to that notion. Fans may know who Poison Ivy is but when crafting a fighting game roster, I’m sure her name isn’t one that immediately comes to mind.
The big reveal, however, came on Thursday when they released the gameplay trailer for Black Canary. Now you want to talk about obscure characters, well here you go. Black Canary has seen a rise in popularity over the years. First, as a prominent member of the Justice League in the Justice League cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network in the mid-2000s. She has recently seen a major surge in popularity from the character’s role in the hit DC Comics show Arrow that airs on The CW. As a strong character in the “Arrowverse”, her inclusion in the game will surely be welcomed.
As you can see in the trailer above, she has a brawler style similar to Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat and her iconic scream can surely open up a lot of gameplay opportunities.
The closed beta is still going on and the Blue Beetle has been made available for players to use so if you have access to the beta have fun!
